Russia voices dismay over military operations E. Ukraine

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russia voiced dismay over the Ukrainian forces' operations in the east of the country, where jet fighters and artillery bombarded the city of Slavyansk at the Donetsk province. The foreign ministry said in a statement that jet fighters and artillery were pounding buildings and neighborhoods, which was posing a great danger on civilians. It accused the Ukrainian authorities of using a roundtable in Kiev "to cover up for its hostile intentions against eastern provinces." It raised doubts in possibility of holding the presidential elections in Ukraine on May 25 because of the military operations. Developments in eastern Ukraine have taken a new twist after the referendum in Donetsk, which paved way for the establishment of an independent state. Ukraine's interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk had said authorities in Kiev were ready to give the Russian language a special status and delegate economic authorities for eastern provinces in a bid to address the separation movement.
