more than 30000 egyptian expatriates in the uae turned up at their embassy in ab dhabi and consulate in dubai to cast their votes on the second day of the presidential elections of their country on friday.

sherif al badawi egyptian consul-general in dubai and the northern emirates said the mission had deployed more employees to help in the voting in anticipation of a larger turnout than that on the first day of polling on thursday as friday is a holiday. media advisor at the embassy in abu dhabi shoaib abdel fattah also said the number of voters on the second day shot up remarkably.

he said the polling process went on smoothly thanks to the automatic reader devices provided by the election committees abroad. “the foreign ministry in cairo had sent a number of well-trained personnel to operate the reader devices and help the work of the election committees in abu dhabi and dubai” he said.

egyptian clubs in the uae arranged buses to transport the voters from their houses especially those in remote areas to the missions. “the uae authorities concerned had made tireless efforts to make the election process a success” fattah said and praised the traffic police for organising the movement of the voters who queued outside the premises of the missions and arranging ambulances to deal with any emergency.
