(MENAFN Press) Alister Akbarov makes a point of adhering to healthy habits, and his commitment to a healthy lifestyle has paid off, as du announced him as the latest winner of its Every Step Counts Facebook competition. The latest round of the competition attracted 627 participants “ the highest number so far, demonstrating how more members of the UAE community are adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Humaida Al Khalsan, Senior Manager Corporate Sustainability & Communications Projects, du, presented Mr Akbarov with his prize, a new Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, and congratulated him during a ceremony held at du's headquarters in Dubai Media City.

"Despite being busy at work, I always make it a point to have a well-balanced lifestyle," said Mr Akbarov. "The Every Step Counts competition is a great way to encourage people to be more healthy. I'm very happy to have won, and thankful to du for organising such a competition. When it comes to physical activity I really enjoy activities that take me out into nature, such as walking in the park at night or swimming at the beach, which is a real passion for me. I love swimming; hitting the beach or swimming pool for me is my way of relaxation and at the same time burning those excess calories accumulated during those days when you are mostly stuck in office. I like swimming for its many health benefits."

Mr Akbarov also plays badminton, and ensures his diet contains a healthy proportion of fruit and vegetables.

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: "Mr Akbarov is a model example of what we want to achieve through our Every Step Counts national wellness campaign, and our congratulations go to him for his win and the healthy lifestyle he maintains. Our Every Step Counts Facebook competition rewards society's healthiest members for being a role model to their peers across the UAE, encouraging them to take more care of themselves by adopting healthier habits that will make a difference in their lives."

du announced the launch of the Every Step Counts tab on its Facebook page in September 2013, and invited the general public to participate in the monthly competition by answering a question.
The tab is dedicated to encouraging individuals in the UAE's community to live a healthier lifestyle fuelled by positive energy, inspired by the steps towards a healthier lifestyle taken by individuals from all segments of society. A monthly competition, where everyone is invited to take part! By answering a simple question, participants will be entered into a monthly draw to win exciting prizes.

Video Library: If visitors couldn't make it to an Every Step Counts event or they were there and want to relive it, they can view videos of the initiatives on the tab.

In addition to the Every Step Counts campaign that was launched in July 2013, du launched its Wellness App in December 2013.
