S. Korean auto exports up 14 percent in April

(MENAFN) A report by the South Korean government showed that automobile exports in the country doubled in April, attributing it to strong demand from the country's top two trading partners, China and the United States, Xinhua reported. According to the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the country's automakers shipped a total of 299,268 cars in April, up 14 percent compared to a year earlier. Car exports hit a new record high of USD4.83 billion in April, led by higher prices of locally-made models. Exported car prices averaged USD16,123 in April, up from USD15,451 a year ago. Car production expanded 12.3 percent from a year earlier to 433, 799 units in April, and domestic auto sales rose 11.2 percent to 147,765 vehicles in the same period.
