Chinese logistics industry edges up 8.6 percent


(MENAFN) According to a report released, China's logistics industry to grow at a slower pace in the current year, following a period of industrial restructuring and weak economic growth, Xinhua reported. The Chinese logistics industry lost steam, expanding by only 8.6 percent to USD468 billion, as the country's economy showed a growth of 7.4 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period a year earlier. A report by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the China Society of Logistics showed that the total value of social logistics goods will expand 9 percent in 2014 from USD32 trillion worth of goods circulated a year earlier. The report added that the expected growth will be lower than last year's growth by 0.5 percentage points.
