UAE set to play nine international friendlies

the uae senior football national team are set to play nine international friendlies as part of the preparations of the gulf cup (khaliji 22) in riyadh from november 13 to 26 and the afc asian cup finals 2015 australia from january 9 to 31 2015.

the boys in white gather in dubai on sunday before they head for switzerland for their european tour from may 20 to june 3. the uae head coach mahdi ali introduced some changes considering the commitments of many players with their clubs in the acl president cup final and the gcc club championship commitments.

the uae lads open their campaign with a friendly on may 27 against arminia in geneva and meet georgia on june 3 at everdon. on august 27 uae take on norway thereafter take on belgium on september 4 and morocco on september 8 in france.

during the month of october the mahdi ali boys play two friendlies against australia on october 10 and uzbekistan four days later in uae. also plans are underway to play two friendlies on november 4 and 7 in the kingdom of saudi arabia. the uae lads move to australia to play jordan on december 31 and kuwait on january 4 2015.

uae have been drawn in group-c alongside iran qatar and bahrain. they face qatar on january 11 in the australian capital canberra before they line up against bahrain at the same venue on january 15. the final appearance for the uae in group stage will be against iran at brisbane stadium on january 19. meanwhile the uaefa met with representatives of the norwegian fa at the association’s offices in al khawaneej dubai on tuesday.

the meeting discussed the proposed friendly between uae and norway on august 27 at the viking football stadium and the tv rights as well as the colours of the teams and training facilities etc.

according to mohammed abdulla hazzam acting secretary general of the uaefa the association has provided all facilities for the uae senior national team ahead of khaliji 22 and the afc asian cup as well as the olympic national team which will carry the country’s hopes in the gcc u-23 cup the asian games and the afc u-22 cup qualifiers. the youth national team will also travel to myanmar to line up in the afc u-19 cup finals in october and the gcc u-16 championship.
