Hitachi's profits surge 51.1 percent

(MENAFN) The Japan-based Hitachi said that the group's net profit surged 51.1 percent in the financial year ended in March, driven by improved sales in information systems and its social infrastructure business, The Peninsula Qatar reported. The electronics and machinery maker said that net profit jumped to USD2.60 billion, while operating profit increased 26.3 percent to USD5.21 million on sales of USD9.40 billion, a rise of 6.4 percent compared to a year earlier. Revenue and profits in its power generation systems business dipped as its thermal power plants business was integrated into a joint venture with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
