(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Floral-Fauna, a solo exhibition of works by an Indian diplomat was inaugurated on Monday at the Omani Society for Fine Arts by H H Mohammed Salim Ali al Said, chief of protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event is showcasing 77 wood figurines by Bimal Saigal, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy. Saigal who took 25 years to master the art said, ''I am delighted with the response the first day of the exhibition has received. I wanted to showcase my work here in Oman as there are a lot of art enthusiasts here. I want people to draw inspiration from my work.''
He added such works require a keen eye and a vivid imagination and he mostly worked on them while he was posted in India, Pakistan and Canada.
Padma, a visitor to the exhibition said, ''I really liked the works exhibited here. They are unique and I have never seen anything like this before. I think it is quite innovative.''
Saleem, another visitor said, ''The figurine of a tortoise is my favourite. It is so unique and looks quite real. I would like to congratulate the artist for such brilliant work.''
The exhibition closes May 18
