(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Gold ornaments worth over RO8,000, expensive smartphones, a watch and a tablet computer were stolen from a house in Ghubra on Saturday night. Al Khuwayr police is investigating the crime and has collected evidences from the scene.
The burglars are said to have entered the house by unscrewing the main door lock using a machine while the family of four was out.
None of the other residents of the building heard them.
''The occupants of the two-bedroom house - a couple, an elderly lady and a child “ were away when the theft happened between 7pm and 9pm. None of the neighbours heard the door being tampered with,'' a family friend and neighbour said.
''They did not take the laptops in the living room but ransacked the bedroom cupboards to find the gold, phones, an iPad and the expensive watch. The ornaments they took away included chains and bangles. The family, which returned by 9pm, informed the ROP,'' the friend said.
