Former Oman student wins beauty pageant


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Arthy Saravanan, who did her schooling in Muscat, won the Mrs India International 2014 crown in Georgia, US, after competing against 13 finalists. Born in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, Arthy, now 29, did her schooling from Indian School, Muscat and her Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto.

Her father, who was a chartered accountant at Assarain Company in Muscat in the past, now a tax consultant in Toronto, is thrilled. And so is his wife Bhama, who happens to be the sister of Dr K P Raman, well known cardiologist and founder of Al Hayat International Hospital in Muscat. In fact, it was he and his wife Deepa Raman, who owns a chain of nursery schools in Muscat, who motivated her to participate in the pageant. Arthy is a medical doctor. She completed her medical education at the prestigious Indiana University, US, and earned her MD in 2011.

She is currently completing her residency specialty training in radiology in Cleveland and is anticipated to graduate in 2016. She hopes to pursue her fellowship sub-specialty training in Women's Imaging. Her brother is also a practicing doctor in USA.
