Malaysia's Manufacturing Sales Up 10.1% in March


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ala lumpur may 13 (qna) - the sales value for the manufacturing sector in march 2014 rose by 10.1 percent about (rm5.2 billion) to rm56.5 billion from the rm51.3 billion reported a year ago.



the department of statistics malaysia in its monthly manufacturing statistics said that on a month-on-month basis the sales value increased by 5.7 percent about (rm3.0 billion) compared with the preceding month of rm53.5 billion according to malaysia's (bernama) news agency.

"on a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis the sales value in march 2014 decreased by 8.6 percent" it added.



the department said the total employees engaged in the manufacturing sector in march was 1.024 million persons an increase of 0.3 percent compared with the preceding month.

meanwhile on a year-on-year basis the number of employees decreased by 0.1 percent about (589 persons) compared with 1.025 million persons in the same month last year.

the department said total employees in february 2014 had been revised positive 0.5 percent year-on-year to record 1.021 million persons.



on a month-on-month basis salaries and wages paid in march 2014 grew by 4.6 percent to register rm2.9 billion.

the total amount paid in march 2014 increased by 4.5 percent about (rm125.2 million) compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.

salaries and wages paid in february 2014 had been revised positive 7.4 per cent year-on-year to record rm2.77 billion. (qna)
