singh met rss second-in-command bhaiyaji joshi and suresh soni its pointsman for the bjp in a closed door meeting at the rss office at jhandewalan here on sunday sources said. both modi and singh are understood to have reviewed with the rss leadership the electioneering which came to an end on saturday evening likely post-poll scenarios and the party’s strategies in various possible situations.

the rss is the ideological parent of various organisations including the bjp which are loosely called the “sangh parivar”.

the ninth and final phase of polling in the elections will be held on monday in 41 constituencies in uttar pradesh west bengal and bihar including in varanasi from where modi is contesting.

after campaigning drew to a close on saturday evening modi flew in to delhi and met ailing former prime minister and veteran bjp leader atal bihari vajpayee before meeting singh at his residence here. he then drove to the rss office to meet bhagwat and other sangh leaders.

most opinion polls have placed the bjp as the front-runner in the elections. the bjp-led national democratic alliance (nda) is hoping to garner the required 272 seats in the 543-member lok sabha on its own.
