(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Ministry of Electricity and Water denied on Monday a report by a local newspaper that it intended to raise costs of electricity and water services, stressing that this report was "inaccurate." The ministry said in a statement that raising the costs of services was being studied with the ministries and relevant authorities, affirming that any amendment to current costs will take into account consumers with normal electricity and water consumption rate.
The ministry added that the increase of electricity and water bills will be redirected to people with high consumption.
A local newspaper reported that the government has taken advanced steps on ways to cut electricity and water subsidies to pave way for increasing costs.
