EU puts more Russians on blacklist


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The European Union Monday evening released the names of 13 more Russians and leaders of pro-Russian separatist groups in Eastern Ukraine to its blacklist and imposed a visa ban and assets freeze on them. The EU in a statement accused the 13 persons of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. The list includes Vyacheslav Viktorovich Volodin, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia, Vladimir Shamanov, Commander of the Russian Airborne Troops, Vladimir Nikolaevich Pligin, Chair of the Duma Constitutional Law Committee, Viacheslav Ponomariov, self-declared mayor of Slaviansk in Eastern Ukraine, Roman Lyagin, head of the 'Donetsk People's Republic' in Eastern Ukraine. Two companies, Chernomorneftegaz and Feodosia, were also added to the list as the two were confiscated by authorities in Crimea after the annexation by Russia. The EU blacklist now contains 61 people in connection with the Ukraine crisis.
