(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Primary Court in Buraimi has convicted four expatriates for manufacturing unlicenced herbal mixes that they claimed could cure AIDS, cancer, diabetes and other serious diseases.
The court also ordered closure of the construction material shop from where they operated and seizure of the materials used by them. Among the items confiscated was old, rusted equipment used to prepare the mixes, 81,311 packed capsules, 20,000 empty capsules, 19 spray cans, 60 cans of water apart from other mixtures, a press release said.
The first defendant was found guilty on four counts and awarded sentences ranging from one to three months and a fine totalling RO6,800.
The second and fourth defendants were found guilty of four charges and awarded sentences ranging from ten days to a month besides being fined a total of RO1,600. The fourth accused was sentenced to one month in jail. All four will be deported on completion of their sentences.
