Australia funds a USD77bn road plan

(MENAFN) According to an Australian treasurer, the country's government is to co-fund a road infrastructure plan of USD77 billion to encourage investment and create job opportunities as the impact of the country's mining prosperous fades, Gulf News reported. Head of the Australian government's first annual budget said that the plan is to spend more than USD 37.4 billion on roads in the next six years, with USD39.3 billion coming from state governments and private investors. "That is tens of thousands of new jobs, but most importantly, it is going to address the significant drop-off in investment in construction in Australia associated with mining investment coming off," he added.
