khamis juma buamim chairman of dubai maritime city and the dubai council for marine and maritime industries received mohammed hussein alshaali chairman of gulf craft one of the leading builders of super yachts in the world at maritime business centre. they discussed potential cooperation between the two companies in the fields of industry investment and development of the maritime sector.

the visit comes within the framework of various meetings organised by dubai maritime city with senior leaders in the marine sector to discuss avenues for economic and trade cooperation and to open up new markets for members and affiliates of the dubai council for marine and maritime industries or dcmmi. in addition with a view to attract investment into dubai maritime city these meetings showcase the facilities and services offered by the city to create an awareness of the potential for investment industrial and economic growth afforded to companies and business partners operating from dmc.

discussions also touched upon the measures required to develop and stimulate growth from an overall industry perspective from a macro basis as also the specifics of these aspects related to the marine sector. the current legal and regulatory framework for the sector its constraints and effectiveness in terms of enhancing capacity attracting investments and developing the supply chain in the local regional and global context were examined.

buamim commented “we at dubai maritime city welcome businessmen and companies who are interested in the maritime industries and with maritime affairs and are keen to contribute to the development and growth of this sector. the time is ripe to further open the avenues for communication adopt innovative ideas and identify and promote investment opportunities.

“the dubai council for marine and maritime industries welcomes and looks for various forms of support from its stakeholders and members on issues which relate to developing and enhancing the international and global role of the uae in this sector as one of its top priorities. there is an urgent need to unify laws and regulations and to strengthen capacity and knowledge within the uae to make it more attractive for businesses and investors and the initiatives being taken by dmc and dcmmi in providing these offers full and complete support to investors and businessmen to realise the full potentials of their businesses. these measures will also cement the status of the uae as a globally recognized leisure marine tourism destination by further developing sustaining and growing maritime based industries” he added.
