Japan's surplus hits USD7.75bn in FY 2013


(MENAFN) According to local media, Japan's current account surplus posted USD7.75 billion in the financial year of 2013 which ended in March, registering the lowest level since the financial year of 1985, Xinhua reported. The Japanese Finance Ministry said in a report that the surplus in the current account balance declined by 81.3 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. In March, Japan's surplus dropped by 90.9 percent compared to the same period a year ago, hitting USD1.14 billion. In the financial year of 2013, Japan's exports jumped 12.2 percent to USD68.5 billion, while imports increased by 19.6 percent to USD79.1 billion, resulting in a deficit in goods trade of USD10.6 billion.
