(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The second edition of the annual Jebel Sifah Fishing Challenge 2014 on Saturday saw the participation of 14 teams. Abu Dhabi-based Team Shark II emerged winner in the open category with the catch of a 60kg yellowfin tuna.
''This contest is great for avid anglers. I dedicate my win to my fellow competitors. This is a win for the whole community of Jebel Sifah,'' said Mohammed el Dagma, leader of Team Shark II. Ahmed al Hasani and team, of the fishing boat Shihab, won the first place in the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) category for catching a 22kg longtail tuna.
The event, which took place in collaboration with the Muscat Game Fishing Association (MGFA) and the IGFA, broke records of last year's inaugural edition. About six teams participated in the competition last year. Bahaa Hefzallah, marketing director, Muriya Toursim Development Company said, ''Fishing has long been a tradition in Oman. ''With every passing year, the Jebel Sifah Fishing Challenge continues to keep alive the joy and excitement of fishing for residents and visitors alike.''
