(MENAFN - Arab News) Eastern province gov. prince saud bin naif was the chief guest at a graduation ceremony held by the royal commission for jubail and yanbu (rcjy) for 2800 college and institute students on wednesday in the presence of royal commission chairman prince saud bin abdullah bin thunayyan al-saud.
salman maher al-mohammadi a student delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates.
'on behalf of my fellow students i thank the rcjy and the jubail industrial college jubail university college and jubail technical institute for all they have offered their students" he said.
an operetta was performed consisting of three scenes highlighting national unity the commission's activities and its academic sector.
ali al-asiri general manager of colleges and institutes at the rcjy also gave a speech where he lauded students the rcjy and the government for their unwavering support in advancing educational initiatives.
'the rcjy is celebrating the graduation of this outstanding group of students" he said. 'we stand proud of the standard of higher education in jubail."
'there have been 9000 students this year with over 3200 male and female graduates" he said. 'there has been huge demand from the industrial field for employing our students."
'we have a 90 percent employment rate among alumni who work in major companies such as sabic saudi aramco and other international and local companies" he said.
'three percent of our graduates enrolled in graduate programs while another seven percent recently graduated. more than 800 training programs have been implemented for more than 21450 trainees of whom 12000 were employees from sabic 1300 from the metal industry and more than 1000 from the saudi aramco."
there are new programs disciplines and majors that have opened as well as new curricula in academic quality and development in english e-skills and interior design among others said al-asiri.
there are many projects that indicate the commission's keenness in education including developmental projects in information technology energy nanotechnology and environment services he said. 'we have expanded our academic buildings which can currently accommodate an estimated 14000 students."
the patronage of the eastern province governor is a testament to the importance the government attributes to education he said.
the ceremony coincides with the ninth anniversary of the pledge of alliance.
