Petrotech to explore downstream incentives

(MENAFN - Arab News) High-level government officials and industry leaders have confirmed their participation in the 9th middle east refining and petrochemicals conference & exhibition (middle east petrotech 2014) to be held in bahrain from may 18 to 21.

it takes place with the support of bahrain prime minister prince khalifa bin salman al-khalifa organizers announced.

sheikh ahmed bin mohammed al-khalifa finance minister and minister in charge of oil and gas affairs will officiate the middle east petrotech 2014 opening ceremony by giving a welcome address to delegates and visiting the exhibition floor.

saudi arabia's economy and planning minister muhammad al-jasser and saudi aramco president and ceo khalid al-falih will speak at the executive plenary session on sunday at ritz carlton bahrain hotel & spa.

the executive plenary session is an opportunity for top-level executives to discuss the 2014 conference theme 'downstream value chain integration opportunities" and provides delegates with an over-arching perspective of the industry.

the middle east petrotech 2014 agenda includes a high-level investment forum entitled 'opportunities and incentives for enabling downstream industrialization."

the forum will explore investment opportunities and government incentives in the arabian gulf via four panel sessions led by ceos of major companies and investment authorities.

omar bazuhair said: 'fueled by unprecedented public and private regional spending schemes investment opportunities have reached levels never seen before in any part of the world. spending in the region including investment incentives is budgeted around $1 trillion over the next five years. with new facility refining and petrochemical construction at record- setting levels of investment the prospects available for investment and growth opportunities are astonishing."

he said: 'the conference and exhibition will bring together investors and decision makers enabling access to key personnel and critical information. in addition middle east petrotech 2014 will offer a platform for technical operatives to network share best practices and benchmark. the technical program will be rich and varied covering technology utilization process optimization and plant integrity and reliability."

more than 100 peer-reviewed papers to be presented in 21 technical sessions will follow during the subsequent 3 days of the conference at the bahrain international exhibition and convention center from may 19-21.

the packed program at middle east petrotech 2014 also includes three panel sessions led by industry thought-leaders aimed at engaging conference delegates in a constructive debate on topical areas of interest in the refining and petrochemicals sector. panel session topics include 'downstream integration & opportunities" 'new business & entrepreneurship" and 'behavior & process safety."

an 8000 square meter exhibition of refining and petrochemicals products and services will run parallel to the conference from may 19 to 21 at the bahrain international exhibition and convention centre showcasing more than 100 exhibitors from over 20 countries.

the participants will include high-profile participation from the natural resource rich areas of the gulf. regional giants including: bapco adnoc borouge knpc petro rabigh qatar petroleum saudi aramco sadara sasref (saudi aramco shell refinery) satorp (saudi aramco total refining and petrochemical company) tasnee (national industrialization company) and yasref (yanbu aramco sinopec refining company) are taking flagship stands.
