Kuwait Writers Association celebrates Golden Jubilee May 13th


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Writers Association announced Saturday the holding of a festivity celebrating its Golden Jubilee on May 13th under the theme "Half a Century of Giving." The celebration, to be held at Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel, will be under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the attendance of Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, Secretary General of the Association Talal Al-Rumaidhi told a press conference. The event, according to Al-Rumaidhi, will open with a play on the Kuwaiti intellectual movement; written by Amal Abdullah and performed by veteran actor Jassem Al-Nabhan, followed by a documentary on the history of the Association. He added that other segments of the festivity's first day will include the honoring of the Association's founders and former secretary generals, as well as a lecture on the Association's role in Kuwait's cultural movement, to be given by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Shatti and Dr. Mohammad Hasan Abdullah. On the second day, Al-Rumaidhi added, a morning discussion panel on "Literature in Kuwait... Hopes and Prospects" will take place, while the afternoon will witness a poetry session and a lecture on "Talents in Literature." The Kuwait Writers Association has a monthly publication (Al-Bayan) that is being published for over 40 years.
