The village, funded by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, consists of 1,000 caravans, two schools - one for boys and another for girls, a hospital, and a mosque, said Al-Maatouq who doubles as chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO).

Dr. Al-Maatouq added that the project reaffirms Kuwait commitment towards, and solidarity with "our Syrian brothers.

"We seek to alleviate their suffering from the current ordeal and share them the hope for their safe return to their homes," he went on.

However, he noted that the humanitarian effort is not enough to put an end to the bloodshed in Syria which needs a political solution.

"His Highness the Amir offers robust backing to Kuwait's tremendous efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrians displaced by conflict," she added.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij said the launching of the village is funded by a generous Amiri donation and supervised by the IICO in collaboration with the embassy.

"The village provides room for up to 5,000 refugees and its two schools have a total occupancy of 8,000 students," he added.
Col. Ahmad Al-Manasra, commander of the refugee camp guard unit, said the Jordanian authorities spare no effort in helping the Syrian refugees and making their life easy.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the director of the refugee affairs dept. Brig. Qadhah Al-Humoud, Col. Al-Manasra appreciated Kuwait contributions to the relief effort for the refugees.
In the same vein, Killian Kleinschmidt, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) director of the refugee camp who prefers the title "Mayor of Zaatari," spoke highly of Kuwait contribution to the launching of such model villages.
