(MENAFN - Arab Times) Kuwait city april 24 (agencies): the ministry of education said wednesday that the minister ahmad al-mulaifi has issued instructions for local contracts to be made with bachelor degree holders who wish to be employed as school teachers including illegal residents (bedoun). the ministry said in a statement that the guidelines state that priority will be given to local contracts over foreign ones based on much needed subjects with the subjects to be announced next week.

the minister headed a meeting with undersecretaries which included education undersecretary maryam al-watid with discussions focused on reforms to the main statute of the preliminary school formula. al-jahra education director general fatima al- kanderi said that the evaluation process is ongoing regarding weaknesses in education curricula including issues regarding pass and fail grades for students.

process

the evaluation process will be determined by skilled teachers in terms of students with lower grades and coordination will be with the school management. participants in the meeting also agreed that the evaluation process for the preliminary schools will not be similar to the past due to the psychological pressure on students and their families. meanwhile parliament's education committee has given the government a deadline for amending the errors noted in law 4/2011 related to the construction of jaber university reports al- kuwaitiah daily.

head of the committee mp humoud al-hamdan held a press conference recently regarding the case of the construction of the university for which law 4/2011 was issued. he said the duration of the project of the university construction is three years indicating that only one year remains. he explained that some errors and contrariety were noted in the law which was supposed to be rectified within two weeks after its discovery in order to proceed with the implementation of the project.

however the government failed to correct the error within the specified timeframe. in another development the ministry of education and higher education has taken strict measures against the engineering affairs sector in the educational districts as it is responsible for fixing the problem in the air conditioning system in schools reports al-seyassah daily quoting undersecretary mariam al- wateed.
