(MENAFN - Arab News) Sabic showcased a broad and relevant portfolio of materials technology applications and solutions at chinaplas 2014 shanghai underscoring the company's deep understanding of the latest trends and challenges that customers in its target industries face.

sabic was into its 17th year at chinaplas.

sabic was the largest exhibitor in the raw materials and chemicals zone in asia's largest plastics and rubber fair and the world's second largest plastics show.

on display at the sabic booth was a variety of next-generation industry-leading technologies and solutions to help customers address some of the most pressing issues in china and the asia region.

this year's exhibition saw participation from the sabic's three strategic business units — innovative plastics performance chemicals and polymers. sabic showcased a portfolio of close to 80 materials technology applications and solutions across six major industry sectors — automotive and transportation building and construction consumer electronics and lifestyle electrical and lighting healthcare and packaging.

the key exhibits included the latest design concepts such as the all-thermoplastic tailgate for the automotive industry as a lightweight and viable alternative to steel as well as a pipe attractor made up of a family of tough sustainable and cost-effective multi modal hdpe materials for pressure pipe applications. visitors to the sabic booth had the opportunity to see the flexibility and quality of sabic's polybutadiene rubber (br) technology.

ipads at each product bench allowed visitors to browse further e-content such as brochures data sheets and for the first time case studies to learn more about the collaboration and successes behind the company's exhibits.

as part of sabic's engagement with customers sabic also lined up a series of technical seminars to introduce new innovations and help customers optimize application design.

performance chemicals engaged close to 100 customers in a synthetic rubber seminar while polymers conducted two seminars for rigid packaging and healthcare while innovative plastics covered four seminars on high modulus ductile product sustainable development and green product innovation automotive and new opportunities for specialty film & sheet for the auto industry.

sabic also collaborated with 12 global leading machine manufacturers with a strong presence in the china/ asia market to present materials solutions for blow molding injection molding blown film and pipe extrusion for its focused industries.
