British trade deficit declines in March

(MENAFN) According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the trade deficit of British goods and services was projected to hit USD1.6 billion in March of 2014, compared to USD2.88 billion a month earlier, Xinhua reported. Data showed that Britain registered a USD14.4 billion deficit in goods, while surplus in services reached USD12.2 billion in March. In the January-March period of 2014, British exports of goods decreased by 3.7 percent to USD122 billion, while imports of goods declined by 2.8 percent to USD167.3 billion, figures showed. "The latest trade figures provide tentative signs that the recovery is finally broadening out to the external sector," said an assistant economist at Capital Economics.
