Industrial production in Britain up 2.3 percent

(MENAFN) According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), British industrial output surged 2.3 percent between March 2013 and March 2014, Xinhua reported. ONS said that production output showed an increase of 0.7 percent between the fourth quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014, lower than the 0.8 percent estimated in April. Data showed that British industrial output, despite the increase, decreased by 0.1 percent in March compared to the previous month. "Overall growth was dragged down by a lackluster performance in oil and gas and the utilities sector. But manufacturing output saw its fourth consecutive monthly expansion, the longest since 2006," said a senior economic adviser.
