(MENAFN - Arab News) A total of 130 firms participated in the 31st annual career day of king fahd university for petroleum and minerals (kfupm) recently aimed at finding jobs for students and guiding them on what subjects to study.

eastern province gov. prince saud bin naif opened the event.

representatives from some of the country's top companies participated. they included saudi basic industries corporation saudi arabian mining company (ma'aden) saudi electricity company samba group of companies saudi arabian chevron and the national commercial bank.

khaled bin saleh al-sultan kfupm's rector said the university was committed to producing qualified graduates to help grow the country's economy and building strong ties with the business sector and the community.

he said kfupm was consistently producing quality education initiatives that are adopted by other universities in the country.

mosfer al-zahrani dean of student affairs said that the university has produced these academic outcomes for the past 30 years and has become a role model for similar institutions inside and outside the country.

the career day is mainly aimed at preparing and producing trained technical staff to fulfill the needs of the labor market.

the university had its first career day 30 years ago with only 13 companies participating.
