(MENAFN - Arab News) In a major bid to expand the hotel market in the kingdom the rezidor hotel group one of the world's largest hotel groups has announced the opening of 16 new hotels in prominent cities of the kingdom including makkah jazan taif hail buraidah and dhahran by 2016.

'there are already six hotels in operation across the kingdom and we plan to take that number to 22 by 2016" said basel talal general manager radisson blu hotel said.

he was speaking at an annual conference held for the hotel's partners with the theme 'a new blu for you".

'the six hotels are radisson blu hotel in riyadh madinah and yanbu. there are two in jeddah and park inn in alkhobar. this year two new radisson blu hotels will open with one in dhahran by mid-june and the other in jizan by november" talal added.

he maintained that all the projects were carefully designed to 'respond to the needs and aspirations of our prestigious domestic and international guests".

the them is in conjunction with the evolution of the company's compelling brands and its emerging business development growth particularly in the kingdom and culminating in its 4d strategy for the current and upcoming years.

'our 4d strategy is to develop talent delight guests drive business and deliver results" he underlined.

elaborating on the expansion plan ahmad makkawi director of sales and marketing said: 'we are planning a hotel inside the diplomatic quarter in riyadh the first hotel in the campus."

'we are also going to introduce a new segment called 'lifestyle select' a whole new brand by the group to be launched by 2015 which has been designed and developed to deliver to today's customer the experience of tomorrow" he said.

'it seeks to create a new industry category an upscale select service concept that boasts a forward- thinking focus on design and detail the customer experience personal interaction personal choice and recognition of the increasingly important role that technology plays in facilitating the best of everyday life" he added.

in commitment to the corporate social responsibility he said: 'we have taken a think planet initiative targeting 25 percent energy consumption reduction by 2016."

he said radisson is the only hotel in the kingdom to be awarded the 'green key' honor for environmental protection.

'we were also the first hotel group to offer free internet service globally" he said.

he said the hotel market in the kingdom is the largest in the region attracting huge investment opportunities and the stakeholders in the hospitality sector are now talking about it with certainties.

he said the hotel market is exceptionally huge with attractive investment opportunities and can easily absorb additional numbers of hotel projects distributed across different major and secondary cities with massive infrastructure projects in the pipeline.
