China's coal production down 1 percent


(MENAFN) An industry association said that China's coal sector has been plagued a surge in stockpiles coupled with a drop in prices and profitability, QNA reported. China's coal output fell 1 percent in the first three months of the year, hitting 878 million tons, while sales fell 1.4 percent to 844 million tons. The world's second largest economy's coal production dropped 1.31 percent since the start of the year, when compared to the same period a year earlier. At the end of last month, the country's coal stockpile came to a total of 300 million tons, the China Coal Industry Association said.
