Japan's imported car sales up 24.4 percent in April


(MENAFN) According to local media, Japan's new imported car sales in April, including the ones made abroad by Japanese automakers, increased 24.4 percent to 15,578 units on yearly basis, Xinhua reported. Kyodo News agency citing the Japan Automobile Importers Association saying that foreign-brand cars sales declined 20.6 percent to 12,915 units, while sales of Japanese-brand vehicles dropped 38.4 percent to 2,663 units. The top three foreign brands were Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, all from German. Volkswagen sold 2,853 units in the reporting period, down 21.3 percent from the previous month, for a market share of 18.31 percent but still top one.
