elizabeth banks plays reporter meghan miles who after a crazy night out with a good-looking guy named gordon (james marsden) finds herself stranded in downtown los angeles. without a phone or money meghan has eight hours to make it to the interview for the job of her dreams.
written and directed by steven brill (little nicky) walk of shame has followed the other woman in generating dreadful reviews – with critics damning the film’s makers for lumbering its star with an unpleasant and unfunny vehicle.
“it would all be galling if it weren’t so lame. but walk of shame is notable only for turning the unendingly adorable banks into an unlikable figure” said christy lemire of rogerebert.com.
“though replete with plot holes and lapses in logic as wide and ugly as the l.a. freeway walk of shame doesn’t have the moxie to go anywhere ludicrous or dangerous with its premise” said joe mcgovern of entertainment weekly.

the highest grossing japanese film of 2013 the wind rises is a historical drama which is also the final film of retired writer-director hayao miyazaki (spirited away).
the oscar-nominated story follows the fictional life of an aircraft designer of world war ii planes. among the english-language voice cast are joseph gordon-levitt emily blunt john krasinski elijah wood and mae whitman.
as well as taking in more than $130 million the wind rises received breathless acclaim upon its release.
“the film is one of the most rapturously beautiful that miyazaki has made and all the more unsettling because of it” said ben sachs of the chicago reader.
“the wind rises has the sweep and majesty of a technicolor hollywood classic” said steven rea of the philadelphia inquirer.

writer-director joel hopkins (last chance harvey) ropes in emma thompson and pierce brosnan to play a still-sparring divorced couple in this comedy heist flick.

timothy spall and celia imrie come along for the ride which is picturesque yet plodding according to critics.
“emma thompson and pierce brosnan deserve better than this creaky heist-caper comedy” said charles grant of variety.
“there are some guffaws and the actors look as if they’re enjoying the riviera locations but dignity is in short supply” said geoffrey macnab of the independent.
