(MENAFN - Arab News) E saudi energy efficiency center (seec) has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage saudis and expats to reduce electricity consumption and cut their electricity bill by 30 percent.'this campaign which will continue for six weeks aims at enhancing public awareness on the importance of economic consumption of electricity by encouraging the elimination of some negative practices" said naif bin mohammed al-abadi director general of the center.the center intends to carry out a series of awareness campaigns over the next three years. 'we want to make saudis and expats partners in our endeavor to save electricity" he said.the center will teach the public simple methods of reducing electricity consumption. the campaign is significant as residential buildings and the construction sector consumes more than 70 percent of the total electricity generated in the country.'our center aims to take the message to more than 20 major cities in the kingdom using the print and electronic media" al-abadi said. it will use newspapers satellite channels social media and billboards for the purpose he added.the theme of the campaign is 'reduce your electricity bill through ensuring the proper functioning of air conditioners."
