(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Career Services and Enterprise Engagement Office at the Middle East College (MEC), organised its sixth Career Fair on Monday. Dr Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, chief executive officer of the Information Technology Authority (ITA) inaugurated the event.

The career fair aimed to bring the industry and academia together under one roof for a comprehensive understanding of each other's function. During the day, students had the opportunity to explore the different career options within the employment landscape of Oman.

Also, they got to know emerging career trends across various industry groupings. For the graduating students of MEC, the career fair offered an excellent platform to showcase their credentials and possibility of them being recruited by participating companies. The 22 organisations that participated in the career fair showcased the nature of their business, human resource policies and other related information for the students to consider an employment either now or in the future.

At the end of the career fair, MEC carried out an extensive feedback from the participating organisations, soliciting information regarding the students. This will be further used to enhance the existing academic model of the institution. MEC strongly believes that any linkage with the industry should be ongoing whereby the teaching and learning process is constantly enriched.

MEC, has been successfully offering programmes in the field of Information technology, management, and engineering at bachelors and masters level in partnership with Coventry University, UK it also has a flourishing campus of 4,000 active students located within the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), the only IT park in the sultanate. Thus far 206 students have passed out of MECIT with a undergraduate degree and 127 with their bachelor's degree and another 4,000 students are pursuing their academic dream.
