(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Mona narang brings her simple yet elegant designs to dubai.socialite and fashion designer to the stars ramona narang will be at studio 8 dubai mall tomorrow to showcase the latest collection from her brand ibella comprising chic feminine and contemporary outfits with a classic touch.ibella features ramona’s trademark intricate draping and styling of silhouettes from body-hugging to flattering. a fan of clean lines and retro embellishments ramona seems to follow the concept of ‘less is more’ as far as her designs are concerned an element evident in many of the outfits she has created for bollywood celebrities.she spoke with city times prior to heading down to dubai for the show.what can you tell us about the collection you will showcase at studio 8 in dubai?it’s a collection which is of the times right now; there’s a lot of colour there’s a few black pieces which are useful when you’re travelling for the summer and you want to go for dinner and stuff like that. these are easy pieces to wear; there are lot of pieces for the day. and there’s a lot of glamour in the collection in the form of sequins which is very in right now.nothing in particular inspired this collection. but they are all classic styles which you can take out ten years later from your cupboard and still have something beautiful to wear.you have designed outfits for many bollywood celebrities. who do you feel always gets it right as far as fashion goes?i think deepika is the most style-savvy star i don’t really have a favourite but most of the girls today know what they’re doing.is there anyone in bollywood who you haven’t dressed yet who you would like to?no not really.what’s more important comfort or style?i think both go hand in hand. the person has to be comfortable with what they wear to be stylish. you could wear something and totally not be comfortable in it and that will not work.fashion sometimes incorporates outlandish or over-the-top pieces which are not really wearable. what’s your take on this?i think in such cases the designer is basically trying to make a statement on the catwalk or red carpet but like you correctly said it doesn’t feature in everyday life. you would look ridiculous. so that is basically the designer being inspired by something and wanting to go all out.are there any international designers in particular who have influenced you?i get a lot of my inspiration from donna karan. i like clean lines and beautiful drapes. i basically want to enhance the woman without overpowering the woman.retro styles seem to be making a comeback in a big way. are you a fan?i’ve done retro with a classic twist; i’ve done a lot of sequinned gowns – sequins were very in once upon a time but i’ve done them differently so you can wear them today and still not feel like you’re in a different era.how would you rate dubai in terms of style-consciousness?i think dubai has come a long way from say ten years ago; the availability of stuff has changed rapidly. dubai is very glamorous. there are a lot of people who know what they’re doing when it comes to style. so i think dubai would be on my list of top five places which are indicative of what the world is doing fashion-wise.what would your fashion tips for the summer be?keep it light use flowing pieces a lot of colour white nudes – basically it’s all about accessorising your outfits in the right way.bollywood and fashion are quite inseparable nowadays with stars making regular appearances in high-profile shows. is the era of the supermodel well and truly over?it’s like the circle of life - you just go through it. katrina was a model before she became a bollywood actress. the supermodel will be there forever. it’s just that maybe right now there isn’t any model who is getting that kind of attention.fashion in spotlight at studio 8fusing fashion from across the globe multi-brand boutique studio 8 at dubai mall will host a show on may 7 featuring the collections of seven celebrated designers; noora from the ahlis sumaya abdul razak taif al bayati from amaze eman & elham clara from miau ramona narang and waad bin hammad of waad collection. be there at 6.30pm to be part of this fashion extravaganza.
