Ex-ministry staff jailed over bribery charge

(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Former employee at the ministry of environment and water has been sentenced to two years in prison and fined dh6000 for soliciting a bribe from a company in return for unlawful favours.the 59-year-old egyptian is believed to have solicited a monthly payment of dh6000 from an agricultural and veterinary company for favouring them in business licenses over other companies.the company’s sales manager 44 said he met the accused at the ministry to talk about licenses to import materials like pesticides and other chemicals when the latter asked for the monthly payment. the manager reported the defendant to the police the next day.the defendant was caught red-handed on september 24 last year after he received the alleged bribe from the manager.mary?khaleejtimes.com
