Chinese service trade increases 15.6 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said that the country's total service trade volume grew by 15.6 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period of 2013, hitting USD138.8 billion, Xinhua reported. Exports of services increased by 14 percent, reaching USD53 billion and imports jumped 16.6 percent to USD85.8 billion, while trade deficit increased by 21 percent to reach USD32.8 billion in the January-March period. The amount of the proportion of China's service trade to its total trade volume increased slightly by 1.6 percent to 12.8 percent in the first quarter, including both trade of goods and services, the ministry added. "Generally speaking, China's service trade continues its momentum of relatively fast growth," the MOC said in a statement.
