(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The GCC Organizing Committee for Women Sport approved in its 18th meeting Monday holding a number of tournaments.

The committee agreed to hold the 4th tournament for women sport in Sultanate of Oman, Secretary General Khawla Al-Enezi told KUNA.

She added that this tournament will include football, volleyball, basketball, handball, and athletic games, which would also include athletes with special needs.

The tournament will also feature sports like taekwondo, archery, horse racing, and bowling, Al-Enezi said, adding that the host nation proposed adding chess and tennis competitions, noting that the proposal has been submitted to the organizing committees for final approval.

AL-Enezi added that the committee approved to hold the first championship for Women Handball in 2015, and rescheduled the second tournament for Women Handball to be held in 2016 instead of next year, adding that the tournaments will hosted by Qatar.

The official said the committee approved the holding of the second tournament of women's volleyball next November in Bahrain.

The meeting was chaired by President of GCC Organizing Committee for Women Sport Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
