Works by Omani mosaic artist on display at Gallery Sarah

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The first solo exhibition by Omani mosaic artist Saud al Aufy began at Gallery Sarah on Monday. The show titled, Symphony of the Elements, was opened by Dr Taghreed bint Turki al Said in the presence of several art aficionados.

Saud, who has been creating art pieces for the past ten years, gives meaning to her work, which reflects the shades of nature, using small mosaic chips. ''Nature is my inspiration. My creations have a lot to do with it,'' she said.

''I have been creating such pieces for the past one decade. I am inspired to do it when I witness the beauty of nature. The colour combinations seen in my works are influenced by the colours around us. I just want everyone to feel what I do. If the colours can convey the beauty of nature to me, I can possibly convey it to the world.''

Some of the art pieces are up for sale and prices range from RO200 to RO2,500.

Saud, a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artist and the British Association for Modern Mosaic, has researched on various forms of mosaic art. ''The contemporary approach to the art gives me the freedom to experiment with elaborate forms, textures and complex patterns.'' she said.

The exhibition will be open from 9.30am to 6pm till June 5
