(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Johannesburg May 05 - Unemployment in South Africa increased to 25.2% in the first quarter of 2014.
The number of people with no work in South Africa increased by 237000 in the first quarter of 2014 to reach 5.067 million. The ruling African National Congress has pledged to create six million jobs in the next five years. The upcoming elections are two days away. The transport sector saw the biggest number of job losses at 66000 jobs. The trading sector meanwhile lost 38000 jobs.
Despite the losses Africa's biggest economy is set to grow by 2.7% this year. Higher than the 1.3% achieved in 2013.
