Qatar- Workers Welfare Discussed at QP Industrial Cities


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha May 05 - QP Industrial Cities held its 3rd Occupational Health Forum recently at Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College (RLESC) the brand new world-class training facility inaugurated last November by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The event which largely focused on workers' welfare saw the participation of Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Thani Director of the Supreme Council of Health and Mr. Khalid Al Ghanim Director of Inspection Department at the Ministry of Labour as well as various representatives from Qatar Petroleum and joint-ventures.

Abdullatif Ibrahim Al-Mohannadi the Manager of Operations at Industrial Cities representing Abdulaziz Jassim Al-Muftah Director Industrial Cities delivered the welcome speech in which he said "Worker welfare is a major focus of our HSE activities. We care about the wellbeing of our staff as well as the wellbeing of all laborers working within our industrial cities. We request that all contractors and suppliers apply the same strict standards that we implement ourselves. This is part of the requirement of doing business in our cities" said Al-Muhannadi.

The forum also featured presentations by HSE and medical experts and managers from QP RasGas and Qatalum as well as two panel discussions addressing different aspects of this important topic.

Tens of thousands of people have their workplace in the industrial cities of Ras Laffan and Mesaieed including oil gas and petrochemical company employees suppliers and contractor workers and construction laborers. Ensuring decent and safe job conditions is an everyday challenge for the managing entity QP Industrial Cities and so is providing for the basic needs of the workers many of whom live within the perimeter of the cities.

Workers' rights and wellbeing are at the core QP Industrial Cities' strategies for achieving sustainable development in compliance with the guidelines set by Qatar National Vision 2030.
