Italian Economy to Grow 0.6% in 2014


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Rome May 05 - The Italian economy is expected to grow by 0.6% in 2014 the National Statistics Office (ISTAT) said Monday.

The forecast was made in the office's in three-year economic outlook. The office's view are slightly lower than the Italian government's expectation of an 0.8% growth.

ISTAT also said that the economic recovery would accelerate in 2015 and 2016 where the GDP is expected to expand by 1% and 1.4% respectively. Despite agreeing with the government's perspective of accelerated growth in 2015 and 2016 ISTAT's figures and lower than the 1.3% and 1.6% the government forecasts for 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Unemployment meanwhile remains near record-high levels of slightly more than 12%.
