(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha May 05 - HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud met here Monday with Smail Chergui the Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) and Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas the AU-UN joint chief mediator in Darfur (UNAMID) and their accompanying delegations.
During the meeting they discussed developments of Darfur peace process in the light of the outcome of the 8th meeting of the committee following up implementation of the Doha Document on Peace in Darfur which was held recently in El Fasher town Sudan.
They also discussed role and efforts of the African Union to resolve the conflict in Darfur.
Ambassador Smail Chergui affirmed AU Union's support for Doha Document on Peace in Darfur and his determination to convince the non-signatory movements to join the peace process.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
