Afghan Army Kills 41 Militants in Separate Operations


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kabul May 05 - At least 41 anti-government armed militants were killed following military operations by Afghan national army (ANA) soldiers.

Defense ministry spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi said that at least 36 terrorists were eliminated following an operation by Afghan national army soldiers in eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan Afghan News Agency (Khamma) reported.

Azimi furhter added that a number of militants were also injured during the military operation in Ghazni.

He said Afghan army soldiers confiscated various types of weapons ammunition and explosives during the operations.

In separate operations Afghan national army soldiers killed 5 anti-government armed militants during the past 24 hours Azimi said.

He said Afghan soldiers also discovered and seized 36 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the operations.

The anti-government armed militants frequently use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to target Afghan and coalition security forces. IEDs are also the major contributor to civilian casualties in Afghanistan.
