Roadside Explosion Kill 10 Taliban Militants in Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kabul May 04 - At least ten Taliban militants were killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

The interior ministry of Afghanistan said the militants were killed after a vehicle carrying ten Taliban militants was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) which was planted by them according to the Afghan Khaama Press online newspaper.

The statement further added that the incident took place late Saturday in Chehl Dukhtaran village in Registan district.

Afghan police forces also confiscated 750 rounds of PK machine gun ammunition along with 6300 rounds of AK-47 rifle ammunition from Zangabad district of Panjwai district interior ministry said.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban militants frequently use improvised explosive device (EID) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces. However the ordinary civilians are mostly targeted in roadside bombings.
