20 Taliban Militants Killed in Security Operations in Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kabul May 04 - At least 20 Taliban militants were killed following military operations by Afghan national security forces in the past 24 hours.

At least three other militants were also detained and two others were injured during the operations conducted in Kunar Nangarhar Laghman Takhara Kunduz Zabul Ghazni Paktiya and Herat provinces Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted by Afghan national police (ANP) forces in cooperation with the Afghan national army (ANA) forces and Afghan intelligence-national directorate of security (NDS) operatives.

Afghan security forces confiscated various types of weapons ammunition and explosives during the operations the statement added.

Afghan police forces also discovered and seized 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during operations from Nangarhar Kapisa Balkh Kandahar Herat Badghis and Helmand provinces.

The Interior Ministry said the IEDs were planted by Taliban militants to carry out insurgency attacks.
