(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kabul May 04 - The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) informed of 33 percent increase in Afghan exports during the year 2013.
Reduction in natural disasters and transit issues growth in fruit harvest and introduction of Afghan products in European markets were the main reasons behind a growth in Afghan export ACCI officials said.
ACCI Chief Mohammad Qurban Haqjo said the total amount of Afghanistan's export during the year 2013 was USD 524 million while the total export in 2012 was USD 393 million according to Afghan News Agency (Khaama Press).
Haqjo further added that an increase was noted in exports of natural herbs dry fruits vegetables carpet cotton and precious stones.
He said the transit with the neighboring countries has also been resolved to some extent.
ACCI officials said majority of dry and fresh fruits which forms a huge portion of the Afghan exports are still exported in neighboring countries.
The officials said the Afghan products are exported to Pakistan India Central Asian countries Iran Russia China Europe Canda and Australia.
In the meantime economic analysts believe that the amount of exports is far more lower as compared to the amount of imports and the government should take necessary steps in order to reduce the imports.
