(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), represented in Oman by General Automotive Company (GAC), recently held a road show at the Mawaleh fruit and vegetable market.

The venue proved to be an ideal location to showcase the latest Fuso range of trucks to an audience of wholesalers and importers, businesses who are in need of sturdy and reliable vehicles to transport their goods throughout the sultanate.

Riju Bisht, sales manager for MFTBC said, ''The road show held at the Mawaleh fruit and vegetable market was a great success, and we were happy to interact in person with our customers in the region. ''It provides us with an opportunity to showcase our latest models and demonstrate the load carrying abilities of each vehicle right from the light' Narrow Cab all the way to the heavy duty' long-wheelbase model.'' Over the course of the two day show, Fuso put three Canters on display “ the Canter Cargo LWB, Canter SWB and Canter Chassis LWB models.

The light commercial vehicles are ideal for the transport of general cargo such as frozen goods, bulk liquids such as water and fuel, complete with a special application to allow the mounting of a crane or man-lift designed to help with the loading and unloading of heavy cargo. The canter range now is available with powerful all-new 4.2l engine.

This new high-performance engine provides maximum output of 130ps/3200 RPM and maximum torque of 31kgfm/1800 RPM, with minimum fuel consumption and features that are latest in technology from Mitsubishi, Japan. ''Many of the customers from the region have little time to visit the showroom in person due to their busy schedules.

This is why they greatly appreciate the fact that we take our products directly to them on an annual basis. Not only does this help sales efforts but more importantly, it helps us build stronger relationships with our loyal customer base, which has been growing consistently for the past 40 years,'' Bisht added. The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation is one of Japan's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and has been present in Oman for over four decades, which has allowed the brand to build a loyal customer base and a strong platform for introducing new light, medium and heavy duty trucks and buses to the market.

The Canter, which is by far the most popular vehicle within the Fuso range, has earned a reputation for offering customers class-leading styling and reliability combined with cutting- edge technology and a low cost of ownership. Powered by a 3.9lt or all-new 4.2lt four-stroke engine, the current generation 6.5-tonne GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) Canter offers superior lugging power and unmatched acceleration, making the longwheelbase version well suited for urban delivery of bulk items.

And backed by its 50-year heritage, the Canter offers proven reliability and a durable chassis that is perfectly suited for hauling heavy loads. The newest addition to the Canter family “ the Canter Long- Wheelbase, is a cab-over truck with a significantly longer wheelbase that will accommodate bodies up to 5m long. This work truck model retains the standard Canter's GVW rating of 6.5 tonnes but offers significantly more space for carrying larger volumes of cargo.

This model offers commercial customers another level of load carrying versatility to satisfy their truck transport needs and also offers a low total cost-of-ownership in common with all other Fuso Canter models - based on superior fuel economy, higher payload capacity and longer standard warranty than competitors in the same class.

Outside of the regular Canter and the long wheel-base model, Fuso also offers the Narrow Cab Canter, which sports all of the hallmarks of the regular Canter, but in a slimmer more cityfriendly' package that enhances the truck's maneouverability and convenience. It is designed specifically for street driving and city usage and its narrow cab design is perfectly suited to navigate through tight and narrow back lanes, offering easy access to previously hard-to-reach locations. The Fuso Canter is available exclusively from General Automotiv
