(MENAFN - Arab News) The polish ambassador to saudi arabia has praised custodian of the two holy mosques for his initiative to promote dialogue between countries.

witold smidowski was speaking at a reception on wednesday at his residence to commemorate the introduction of the polish constitution of may 3 1791. riyadh gov. prince khaled bin bandar and various foreign diplomats attended the event.

'i feel privileged to celebrate these anniversaries together with our saudi friends. king abdullah's idea of intercultural dialogue is well known and appreciated in poland" he said.

he said the polish government has great respect for the saudi government under the king for providing citizens with proper infrastructure health services and education.

he said poland's president bronislaw komorowski and prime minister donald tusk visited saudi arabia recently to enhance political dialogue at the highest level.

he said poland's constitution day the first national constitution in europe coincides with three milestone anniversaries — the 10th anniversary of poland's accession to the european union 15th anniversary of its integration into nato and the 25th anniversary of the democratic and economic transformation of the country he said.

'anyone who knows polish history cannot help but marvel at the country's emergence from the ashes of its traumatic past. i take pride in saying that in 2014 poland has achieved a level of development and well-being never experienced before."

he said the may constitution remained in force for only a year before being overthrown but its legacy contributed to preserving the polish identity throughout years of enslavement world wars and communism.

'since 1989 when the solidarity-led social movement spearheaded the collapse of communism poland has grown by more than any other country in europe."

'the list of the polish and saudi companies discussing and implementing joint economic projects has been growing. we welcome with great excitement increasing numbers of saudi students in poland and polish experts in saudi arabia. they contribute a lot to the better mutual understanding and success of our contracts" he said.
