(MENAFN - Arab News) Jeddah: international indian school jeddah got the better of pakistan international school english section (green) by 17 runs during the fourth week of the inter-school cricket tournament sponsored by red tag and organized by western province cricket association here.

the indian school opted to bad first and put a score of 137 for 8 in the allotted overs. sohail (32) and rayyan (29) were the main run getters. umar claimed 2 wickets.

the pakistani school were stranded at 120 for 6. danial (28) and ahmed raja (44) did their best. sohail grabbed 2 wickets.

in the other matches al waha defeated pis azizya (white) by 31 runs pisj es (white) downed hala international school by 9 wickets and pakistan international school azizya (green) won against dps al falah international by 4 wickets.

in the first match al waha put on board 139 for 2. yasser (31) and mohammed mirza beg (71) did most of the scoring. saad claimed 2 wickets. pis azizya (white) in reply was bowled out for 108. waleed (39) and hussain (20) put up a fight. mishal khan did most of the damage and took 4 for 12. zain chipped in with 3 wickets.

in another match hala international posted 158 for 2. umair top-scored with 61 runs while saddam (27) and ali (35) gave him support.

pisj es (white) in reply achieved the winning target with nine wickets in hand off the second ball of the last over of the match.

thanks to hamza who hammered an unbeaten 78 off 50 balls with 5 fours. anas was not far behind and scored 57 off 39 balls

elsewhere dps al falah opted to bat first and scored 142 for 8. wiraj stroked 41 hussain 18 and faizan 12. zeeshan got 3 for 15. pis azizya (green) in response scored 142 for 6. hamdan top scored with 26. zubain 25 not out afridi 12 usman 13 were the other scorers.

acc development manager iqbal sikander former pakistan cricketer paid a surprise visit to the wpca grounds to witness the matches.

speaking on the occasion he emphasized that the essence of cricket lies in the grass-root level where the talented cricketers could be identified and then groomed under the qualified coaches to be the future assets of the country. he was highly impressed by the enthusiasm and interest in the under 16 lads.
